Description

EB-21 and GP-1 are oil gelling agents, derived from L-Glutamic acid. They are not polymeric but are low molecular weight molecules that self-assemble and trap oils in their mesh network. Consequently, the skin feel of the formed gels is simply that of the oils employed.

GP-1 and EB-21 gelling agents require a high dissolution temperature that varies depending on the oil selected (polar oils require lower dissolution temperatures). That is why a pre-mix gel, such as AJK-OD2046 is more convenient to use to take advantage of the lower melting temperature.

AJK-OD2046 is a 20% active (8% EB-21; 12% GP-1) semi-solid gel in Octyldodecanol that melts at 100-105°C and can be employed with greater ease in many types of oil gel formulations.

Major applications:

AJK-OD2046 can be used to form innovative clear hard oil sticks and/or clear oil gels (lip stick, Sun care stick). It can also be used in innovative Make-up sticks and to increase the stability in emulsion systems.
